Key features
- Supports the One Health programme: stabilises DNA and mRNA from human, animal, agri and environmental samples.
- DNA/RNA stable for 3+ years at 15–25°C; mRNA 15 days at room temperature and 3 months at -80°C.
- Instant lysis removes the extra lysis step, saving time and cost; use any reliable kit to isolate your product.
- Extracts 2.5–3X more DNA/mRNA than media available in the market.
- A colour indicator shifts from blue to green or yellow if the sample is compromised.
- Isolate fungal DNA without liquid nitrogen.
- Approved for MTB analysis by Gates Foundation, The Union and ICMR (Govt. of India).
What is truGnom®?
truGnom® is a formalin- and alcohol-free medium for collecting, transporting and preserving DNA and RNA before PCR, RT-PCR, NGS, WGS and omics analysis.
Preserve DNA and RNA from any biological sample
It works across sample types, including human, animal, agri and environmental samples (One Health). truGnom® lyses cells and does not support microbial revival; it only preserves DNA and RNA.
Cold-chain-free molecular sample transport
Transport at room temperature for 15 days, or store at -80°C for 3–6 months. Best practice: keep your sample at -20°C for 24 hours before sending it at room temperature. Unused medium has a shelf life of 2 years.
Simplified nucleic-acid workflow
No additional lysis step is needed. For a better DNA and RNA yield, adding 50% of the usual commercial lysis reagent has been shown to be very effective. truGnom® is compatible with standard extraction kits.
Isolate fungal DNA without liquid nitrogen
Applications
16S rRNA sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, host and pathogen nucleic-acid analysis, transcriptomics, WGS, NGS, PCR and RT-PCR.
Sample integrity indicator
The blue solution is a built-in quality check. If it turns yellowish, the solution is compromised: do not run experiments with it.
truGnom® or BiomLife®?
truGnom® is optimised for nucleic-acid preservation. BiomLife® preserves microbes, revives them, and also preserves nucleic acids.

Questions buyers ask
Can truGnom® preserve both DNA and RNA?
Yes, it does.
Is truGnom® suitable for NGS and metagenomics?
Yes.
Does truGnom® require a separate lysis step?
No, but adding a lysis reagent increases the yield.
Can microbes be cultured after preservation in truGnom®?
No. There is no chance of recovering microbes after collection in truGnom®.
How should truGnom®-preserved samples be transported?
At room temperature. Best practice is to keep the sample at -20°C for 24 hours before sending it at room temperature.
Can truGnom® help isolate DNA from fungi without liquid nitrogen?
Yes. With CTAB it helps isolate fungal DNA without liquid nitrogen.
What is the shelf life of truGnom® at room temperature?
2 years.
